NOTICE TO ALL BRANCH CHAIRMEN FOR NOMINATION OF YOUNG LAWYERS FOR FULL SPONSORSHIP TO NBA-AGC 2017

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), A. B. Mahmoud OON, SAN, has approved full sponsorship for one hundred young lawyers for the 2017 NBA Annual General Conference. In view of the foregoing, Branch Chairmen are hereby requested to send the names of two nominees, who are young Lawyers between 1-7 years post call. Please note that the nominees must be in good standing both at the Branch and National level, and must have gone through NBA verification. 1.   Kindly note that all intending conference delegates (whether lawyers or non lawyers) are expected to pay at the registration rates that were approved by NBA's NEC at Lokoja and subsequently publicised. Incidences of underpayment, whether effected personally, through a third party or a group will void the registration along with its accompanying benefits. 2.    It has come to our notice that a large number of colleagues that registered for this years Annual General Conference have uploaded inappropriate photographs to their registration profiles. Uploaded photographs should be photographs that show the delegate only. The uploaded photographs should not be blank or be photographs of animals, animate or inanimate objects. The purpose of the photograph is to use it along with the information on your profile to create an access bank affinity card which will double as a debit card and an NBA ID card. PRESS RELEASE: NBA PRESIDENT CONSTITUTES DISCIPLINARY PANELS

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has reconstituted membership of its disciplinary committee in order to cope with serious challenges of indiscipline which have arisen in recent times. Speaking at the formal inauguration of nine (9) NBA technical committees, yesterday, in Abuja, the NBA President, Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud OON, SAN, said that the association has found it expedient to reconstitute its disciplinary committee and would not fold its arms and watch helplessly as waves of indiscipline erode the culture of decorum, discipline and decency which had distinguished the legal practice as a noble profession. "I like to say that we have had serious challenges of indiscipline and I like our members to reflect on this." said A. B. Mahmoud, OON, SAN. "These challenges bother on unruly behaviours which are contrary to the entrenched traditions of the profession. He said.
